Day 1 in London

On May 14th our study abroad group left Santorini, Greece and headed for London! This was a bittersweet departure because I am definitely a city girl, so I was really excited for London; however, I wasn't ready to leave Greece! After arriving in London, and being reminded of why I love cities, and cold weather, I quickly realized London is absolutely amazing.

Our first day in London included a bus/walking tour of the city. It was actually supposed to be a full bus tour, but our bus was involved in a minor accident (thankfully while we were parked)! The bus lost one of its side mirrors, and was unfortunately unable to drive because of it! We were able to walk to some tourist spots nearby until another bus could pick us up.

As you may have heard, London weather can be dreary. On our first day we definitely experienced this. It was very overcast, but it really only drizzled (thank god it didn't pour) so we were able to walk around when we had to.

Our first stop on the bus tour was at Buckingham Palace! Seeing this beauty in real life was draw-dropping, especially after binge-watching The Crown on Netflix! The details and architecture are absolutely gorgeous.

Even though it was May, it was still pretty cold in London! I finally had the opportunity to break out my new Black Trench Coat from The Kooples (similar here)! My mom and I quickly became obsessed with this trendy store after stopping at one of their locations in New York City last Winter. Their items can be very pricey, but I found this jacket for a great deal! If you are willing to invest in a couple of key pieces I would definitely check out The Kooples!

After Buckingham Palace we walked to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben! Once again, these gorgeous buildings have a much different effect in person! Underneath my trench coat I wore an olive green turtleneck from H&M (similar here and here). I love the look of black and green, I think they complement each other really well! I wore my favorite (and super cheap) Black Skater Skirt from Forever 21 (only $8!!!). To protect my legs from the cold, I wore these tights from H&M and my Steve Madden Over the Knee Boots (similar here). I love wearing over the knee boots with tights, and unfortunately we don't get the opportunity too often in Florida. Thankfully this was my daily uniform during my two weeks in London!

More posts from London will be coming soon!
