Basics Are Best

Because I loved this awesome blue wall in downtown Gainesville, I decided to do one more photoshoot here. Both this outfit, and this blog post, are about the importance of buying basic clothing staples that will last you forever.

I just had a conversation with my grandmother today, about how quickly clothing goes in and out of style, but there are a few key pieces that will last you forever. I believe that you can buy cheap clothing for the fads, because you will be able to throw those clothes away the next month. However, I think you should spend more money on the basics so they can last for a longer amount of time. For example, I bought this beautiful striped shirt from Zara (similar here) almost four years ago, and I still wear it all of the time! I am currently obsessed with the Portofino shirts from Express, because of their timeless fit and style. They look so professional with any suit, but can be dressed casually for class. I also bought this skirt from Zara almost (similar here) 2 years ago! I love the flexibiity of this brown skirt, you can wear it with almost anything.

I bought these Halogen lace-up flats last year from Nordstrom and I am still just as in love with them as when I bought them. They are so cute and flirty, and add something fun to every outfit. I also love that the color is so neutral, so it gives you the ability to match with so many options (similar here). I wanted to subtly match the wall I was taking pictures in front of, so I "borrowed" this really cool wrap-chocker necklace from my roommate (similar here)! I am also wearing my staple jewelry: Kate Spade watch and Kate Spade earrings (similar here).
