Floppy Hats & Bell Sleeves
I was having a bohemian-chic moment when I picked out this outfit. I love the black-and-white chic aspect mixed with the bohemian feel of the hat and the bell sleeves of my top! I love switching up my styles between preppy, chic, bohemian, and even grungy, and this outfit brings together so many of these trends!
Everyone should own the perfect black blouse, because these tops are so easy to throw on with any outfit to dress it up. When I found this Ro & De bell sleeved black top from Nordstrom Rack, I knew I needed it because it added a fun aspect to the simple black top. I am currently obsessed with bell sleeves because they are a cool way to add a fashionable and trendy touch to any outfit without going too overboard. I feel like this style, and this shirt in particular, adds a slight bohemian vibe to your outfit as well. I love that this top not only has the bell sleeve, but it also has a cute cut out section and a tie on the sleeve. I found a lot of similar tops with bell sleeves from Nordstrom Rack! (Option one, option two, option three, option four, option five) As always, I am wearing my favorite jeans from Topshop! I decided to pair this outfit with my white jeans, instead of blue or black jeans, because I wanted to add a pop of something bright for Spring. I love the contrast of a black and white outfit and I think this season is a great time to start transitioning your outfits from the all black winter uniform to the bright colors of Spring.
If you have read my Maroon Trench Vest blog post, then you know I love my floppy hat. I think they are such a cute addition to any outfit. Not only are they an awesome fashion statement, but they also are really beneficial: they can help you cover up a bad hair day and also protect your skin from the sun! I have been trying to find creative ways to incorporate my floppy hats into my everyday outfits, and I think pairing it with an outfit like this would be perfect. (Similar hat here)
The biggest shopping tip I can give to you is to be patient. I have learned that if you wait long enough for any item it will most likely be on sale. I have been obsessed with these Sam Edelman Yardley Lace-Up Heels since last summer and I have been patient and waited to find them on sale. Last month when I was in NYC I found them at TJMaxx for $50! These shoes were definitely worth the wait! Another reason I feel that waiting to buy an expensive item is a good idea, is because sometimes you may not realize it is something you don't actually need/want. A tip I have for you is if you really want to purchase something, wait about two to three weeks and see if you still want it, and if you do, then go get it. I realized that after almost a whole year of waiting, I was still dreaming about these shoes, so I knew I needed them. Also, sometimes you may come home and realize you have a very similar item in your closet already.
I know I post about this purse all of the time, but it has to be one of my favorites! It is so beautiful and easily convertible with its magnetic sides. I love the shape and size of this purse, making it perfect for everything. This bag is also very similar to Tory Burch's new line of purses: her 'Block-T Collection'. In these new bags, Tory creates the letter T in the design of the purse instead of having her iconic T logo on the front. I feel like this bag is a step in that direction, with the small hint of a T if you look closely at the design of this bag. (Hint: the small squares in the bottom corners outline the letter T)
