Summertime Sadness

The clock struck fall, but I was not quite ready to give up my memories of the beach this summer. Instead, I thought I would write about a time when my skin was sun-kissed, and I watched the sunrise and sunset almost daily.

Unfortunately, now I have been in the library for so long, I don't even have a tan line. On this July evening I spent going to dinner with family, I wore a white tank top dress with a lace overlay. I posted about this dress in my blog about New York, but said I would get back to it. This dress is from White House Black Market (similar here.) The thin straps are perfect for the summer heat, especially because the rest of the dress is a bit heavier.

I love this dress because of the detailing of the design. I don't think you can go wrong with a simple white dress. The lace overlay continues beyond the rest of the dress, allowing skin to peak through. The shape is very flattering but lays more flat rather than tight on the body, allowing a classier look. This dress can be worn for many occasions whether it is dinner or an event. I have paired Greek sandals with it as well as wedged heels. Simple, gold, jewelry would also create a nice contrast against the white.

While I will miss my summer days at the beach, fall trends will begin as soon as Florida weather drops below 85 degrees.
