Wimbledon
One of the best parts about visiting London is the large variety of places to visit and things to do! It feels like you can never have enough time in this city, because there is just too much to see. Along with the rich history in London, there are also many sports teams and arenas you can tour. After class one day, Gabby Seiler and I decided to head over to Wimbledon to tour their tennis facilities!
Wimbledon is very easy to get to from London. It is only a short train ride away. Gabby and I even decided to get off the train one stop early to walk around the adorable town.
The Tour
The tour begins at the entrance to Centre Court. Our tour guide brought us around the outdoor courts and explained how they keep them in shape and ready for the upcoming tennis championships! Gabby and I visited Wimbledon on May 23rd, which was only a few weeks away from the beginning of the Wimbledon Championships.
After seeing the outdoor facilities, we were then given the opportunity to see the media rooms! Our tour guide showed us the control room where the news team can control each camera throughout the entire tournament. We also saw the Tennis Channel and ESPN Studios. The last media room we were shown was the Press Room. Gabby and I were even able to pretend we were being interviewed after winning!
Now for the best part of the tour: Centre Court! The most famous court in the world, Centre Court is the main court at the Wimbledon Championships. If you look closely you can see the Royal Box in the background! If you are a tennis fan, or even slightly interested in the sport, I would 100% recommend visiting Wimbledon. Seeing Centre Court in person, and the rest of their facilities were amazing. I am wearing my brand new Embroidered Topshop Jamie Jeans (similar here and here). I had bought these jeans the day before, and I couldn't wait to wear them! I wore them with my black bell-sleeve top from Nordstrom Rack (similar here, here, and here).
The tour concludes in the gift shop and museum, where you are given free time to explore on your own. The museum is located below the tennis courts and gift shop, and it is a really great supplement to the tour. This museum houses many famous tennis players signed outfits, and a ton of great history about tennis and Wimbledon. The next time you are in London, you should definitely visit Wimbledon!
