Winter Basics

The time of the year in Florida where one day it is 40 degrees and the next it is 65 has finally arrived. It can be hard to plan an outfit the day before and even harder choose something that fits fluctuating temperatures. My advice is to choose something that is versatile and can be layered. This look worked perfectly for the day time, and I added a long, warm coat for the evening.

My thin white top comes from Brandy Melville (similar here) and is so soft. It has a cream tone to it which makes it more wintry. Three-quarter sleeves are perfect for days that aren't too cold. While I didn't wear a necklace, this neckline is perfect for something simple like a pearl on a thin chain to add an accent.

This skirt came from my friend's closet, but can be found in a similar style here. I love the material of it and the shape, although it slightly reminds me of my catholic school uniform. I wore these simple black tights for warmth. The skirt is fairly short, so wearing tights detracts from that. Tights are a great addition to an outfit if it is a bit colder, but you don't want to wear jeans.

Lastly, I wore these black and studded earrings from Kate Spade (similar here.) They are simple, and work the more minimal style look. I love to pair basics together, something Brandy Melville does well. It makes it easy to create different looks using only a few pieces.
