Ann Arbor, Michigan
I decided to take a break from the Florida heat and head to the University of Michigan for the weekend! (Luckily) I chose the one weekend to visit while there was a HUGE snow storm. Watching the snow fall was absolutely beautiful and I cannot get over how gorgeous the UM campus is. I had an amazing time with my brother, and I enjoyed the cold weather and snow for the weekend!
While braving the winter cold, you need to make sure you have a good jacket to keep you warm. Unfortunately, I am a Floridian, so this trench coat was not the warmest. However, I was able to stay warm with multiple layers and warm accessories! This trench coat is definitely designed more for Fall or Florida winter temperatures (similar here, here, here and here). You may remember this Kooples trench coat from all of my study abroad posts, and it was perfect for that weather!
To stay warm in these freezing temperatures, you need to make sure you are layering correctly! Adding the right accessories makes a big difference. This cable knit beanie from Francesca's (similar here, here, and here) kept my head warm and dry during the snow storm. My leather gloves from Off 5th are a major must-have while in the cold weather (similar here and here). I have been obsessed with the Burberry Check Scarf, so I bought this similar plaid style scarf from T.J. Maxx (similar here and here)!
You may remember this olive green sweater from my Dublin, Ireland Travel Guide! I love this green turtleneck, because it keeps you warm and it is the perfect color to wear with your all-black winter outfits. I have linked some similar options here, here, here, and here.
Wearing the right shoes in the snow is very important! These leather Charles David booties did a great job of keeping my feet warm (similar here, here, and here). If you live where it snows a lot, I would definitely recommend investing in a good pair of snow boots; however, these were perfect for the weekend!
The University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan is absolutely gorgeous. It is even more beautiful with snow! This town looked like it should have been in a snow globe. I am so proud of my brother for getting into Michigan and making the decision to attend this amazing university!
