Jerusalem, Israel

The next stop on our tour of Israel during my Birthright trip was Jerusalem! We arrived in Jerusalem on Christmas Eve, where we had the opportunity to attend the Taglit Mega Event! During this event we heard Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speak, and we also attended a concert from some of the most popular Israeli bands! Continue reading below to see how we spent Christmas Day touring the Old City.

We began the day at the Mamilla Mall right outside of the gates of the Old City in Jerusalem. Our day in Jerusalem was pretty cold, and a little rainy. This red puffer jacket was perfect to keep me warm, while also working as a rain jacket (similar here). I love the contrast between black and red, so I kept the rest of my outfit simple with this black and white striped turtleneck (similar here) and my black Topshop jeans. My black slip-on sneakers from Target were so comfortable and perfect for all of the walking during our trip in Israel! I also love my Rebecca Minkoff Cross-Body, which was the perfect size to fit everything I needed for a day of touring (similar here).

The Old City is all made out of Jerusalem Stone, which you can see on these buildings!

The views from the city are absolutely amazing!

Visiting the Western Wall is such an amazing experience. If you are in Jerusalem, you cannot miss this ancient site. I am so happy I had the opportunity to visit the Wall with such an amazing group of people!

Our next stop was Yad Vashem, which is the Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem. Visiting this memorial was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. As much as we learn about the Holocaust in school, it is so much more impactful to hear the story while being surrounded by all of these pictures, videos, and memorabilia.

We stayed at the most beautiful Kibbutz's while in Jerusalem. All of these pictures are the views from our Kibbutz's! A kibbutz is a communal settlement in Israel, and many of these ancient communities are now open as hotels.

Our last day in Jerusalem was spent at the Mahane Yehuda Market. This market has amazing fresh breads, cheese, spices, and great jewelry and souvenirs. This market can get very crowded, but it is definitely worth the visit! At night, this shuk turns into a great area to hang out! Make sure to enjoy a delicious falafel pita while you are there.
