Wedding Weekend
Last weekend my family and I flew to Long Island, New York to celebrate the wedding of our cousins Jennifer and Clinton Botway! This was the first wedding I have attended, at least the first one I was old enough to remember, and it exceeded all of my expectations. If you know me, then you know I was beyond excited to pick out my outfits and do my hair and makeup for this wonderful ceremony. Make sure to keep reading this post to see what I wore to the Friday night prenuptial dinner and to the wedding service and party!
The Friday night rehearsal dinner was held at a cute restaurant in Oakdale on Long Island. I love the lace and see through aspect of the Self-Portrait desses (here and here), but unfortunately these dresses are out of my price range. I was so excited when I found this similar style WAYF dress at Nordstrom two summers ago (similar here, here, and here)! Since I bought this dress, WAYF has quickly become one of my favorite brands. With reasonable prices and on trend clothing, this is a brand you may want to check out next time you are shopping!
I kept my accessories simple, and I decided to go with gold! I used my Kate Spade Song Bird Clutch. If you look closely, the clasp at the top is actually a cute mini birdcage! I have also found some similar gold clutch purses here and here. Another designer item I have been eyeing, but is too expensive for me, are the Valentino Rockstud T-Strap Sandals. I bought this pair of Falentino's from GoJane.com two summers ago, but I found some similar options here and here. The chunky block heel is definitely the most comfortable option and I love the studded, strappy style!
I love being able to spend time with my wonderful family!
This beautiful wedding was black tie, so I finally had an excuse to dig up my prom dress from the back of my closet! I bought this gorgeous gown from Nordstrom back in 2015, along with these super cute, but highly painful, heels. When I began shopping for a prom dress, I had a very specific style in mind. I wanted a dress with glam on top, a cinched waist, and a loose flowing bottom. This dress hit all three points, and it was the first (and only) dress I had to try on! I have found some similar options here, here, here, here, and here. This dress is perfect, because it is very comfortable and easy to move around in, but also highlights the best parts of your figure!
Because the top of this dress has so much going on, I kept my accessories simple. I wore these simple, yet elegant heels from Nordstrom (similar here and here). I carried a small, square silver clutch to accent the jewels in my dress (similar here and here). I never wear too much makeup because I love the natural look, but I decided to add some dark eye shadow for this special event. I also wanted to be able to see the details in my dress, so I went with my aunt and cousin to get an updo! I absolutely love how it turned out, and I am so happy I chose this style.
The beautiful bride!
Congratulations Clinton and Jen & thank you for letting us share this special day with you!
